AI voice agents: how they work, and who they are for

A voice agent picks up the phone, takes a booking and sends you a summary. What it can do, where it stops, and what to ask before installing one.

What a voice agent does

A voice agent is software that answers the phone for you. It understands what the caller says, replies out loud, and can act: book an appointment, record a reservation, take a quote request or transfer the call when needed.

When the call ends, you get a written summary: who called, why, and what was agreed. You only call back the people who really need it.

Which businesses it suits

A voice agent helps wherever the phone rings at the wrong time: a restaurant during service, a tradesperson on site, a medical practice with an overloaded front desk, an estate agency whose agents are out on viewings.

It helps less if you get few calls, or if every call needs expert advice. In that case an online booking form is often enough.

Where it stops

A voice agent does not replace a person for a sensitive situation, a complaint or an emergency. It has to know when to hand over, and say so clearly to the caller.

It can also mishear a name or an address. That is why the written summary and the option to replay the call matter as much as the voice itself.

What to ask before installing one

Where are calls processed and stored? With a large cloud provider, with a European host, or on a server you own? The answer changes what you can promise your customers.

Is the agent connected to your calendar or booking software, or does it only take messages? What happens when it cannot answer? Who updates it when your hours or prices change?

At Denvori, each voice agent is built for the customer's business and then maintained. It runs on our servers or on yours.
